Danao the Parrot

By Rachel L. Shaw

Illustrated by Jonathan G. Rañola, III

Danao the Parrot — a story celebrating the unique wildlife of the Philippines.

A house in a city isn’t the place for a parrot to be. But where should a parrot live? Join a little parrot called Danao on his amazing journey across the Philippines in search of the perfect place to live. Along the way he meets a lot of other animals from tarsiers and cloud rats to Philippine eagles and crocodiles. Many of these animals, like Danao, are found only in the Philippines.

Rachel L. Shaw

cares passionately about wildlife and the environment. She lives in the U.K. and works for a wildlife charity. Rachel has a strong connection with the Philippines after taking part in an exchange visit organized by Rotary Clubs and is an honorary member of the Rotary Club of West Bay, Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines. Rachel hopes that stories of the endemic and endangered animals of the Philippines will help spark a lifelong interest in them and their conservation.
