Storytelling by Kuya Bodjie: The Pangat, The mountains and The

Maraming salamat!

Filipinos grew up with stories told by veteran TV and theatre artist Luisito "Kuya Bodjie" Pascua of the iconic children's TV program "Batibot". He gives life to the children's book authored by Luchie Maranan, The Pangat, the Mountains and the River* which tells of the life of Macliing Dulag, a "pangat" (elder-leader or village chief) who was killed for defending their ancestral land against the construction of the World Bank-funded Chico Dams during Marcos' martial law regime.

At present, the monument built in his honor, and that of his tribesmen who heroically fought, is under threat of demolition. Please help us spread his story and pass them on to our children and the future generations.

*We thank the great generosity of the Bookmark Filipino Bookstore, publisher of the story book, for allowing us to go ahead and let the people know of the story of Ama Macliing.
