Developing Writing Skills Level 1 to Level 6 is a thorough, self-contained, and comprehensive book designed to guide the pupils learn the handwriting skills and refine their penmanship through well-organized exercises. It emphasizes the three components of good handwriting: correct letter formation, uniform letter size, and uniform slant. It includes challenging activities through which pupils can experience success. The activities include tracing, copying from models, and practicing with letters, words, phrases, and sentences. The content is based on important frequently-used vocabulary words and English links with appropriate language skills suited within the pupils' learning level. Models are provided to ensure accuracy during practice towards the attainment of a legible penmanship.

Provisions are given in this book for the children to examine their own penmanship critically in order for them to discover their individual difficulties and needs. New Basic Writing Skills – Grade 1 to Grade 6

New basic WRITING SKILLS, a self-contained handwriting series from Prep to Grade 6 has been designed with the view that writing is a vital element in the learning process of the children. Although there is a need to give lessons in handwriting apart from activities that require organizing ideas, it should not be treated as a separate entity but rather an integral part of learning. The series builds on acquisition of knowledge and skills that are expected to be developed in each grade level. Activities are planned to focus on the micro skills of handwriting, correct letter formation and interest building. Letters are grouped by “families”— those using similar strokes — for easy retention and fluency of letter formation. It provides arrows indicating directions of strokes for each letter enabling the learners to acquire proper letter production.
