VOYAGES in ENGLISH: Writing and Grammar,
Grade 1 – 8 (Teacher & Student Edition)

This series includes the major areas of grammar: correct usage, mechanics, and dictionary skills. Each chapter incorporates a grammar concept with one of the following writing genres: personal narratives, friendly letters, how-to writing, descriptions, book reports, and research reports. For purposes of instruction, the grammar skills are often taught in isolation, but they should not be considered separate and distinct from one another.

Grammar, correct usage, mechanics, and spelling are taught primarily to enhance the student’s oral and written expression. Becoming proficient in language is a process. As students mature, their knowledge and use of the language should mature as well.

New Basic Writing Skills – Grade 1 to Grade 6

New basic WRITING SKILLS, a self-contained handwriting series from Prep to Grade 6 has been designed with the view that writing is a vital element in the learning process of the children. Although there is a need to give lessons in handwriting apart from activities that require organizing ideas, it should not be treated as a separate entity but rather an integral part of learning. The series builds on acquisition of knowledge and skills that are expected to be developed in each grade level. Activities are planned to focus on the micro skills of handwriting, correct letter formation and interest building. Letters are grouped by “families”— those using similar strokes — for easy retention and fluency of letter formation. It provides arrows indicating directions of strokes for each letter enabling the learners to acquire proper letter production.

The gradation of activities makes learning the writing skills easily attainable. The book guides the children as they go from one lesson to the next yet underscores the teachers’ role in guiding the learners to ensure precision in letter formation as they make the writing experience enjoyable in the classroom.
